In a shocking incident that sent shockwaves through the picturesque town of Lonavala, a 13-year-old UK national of Indian origin ‘Master Haroon Vali’ lost his life due to electrocution in a swimming pool at a commercial tourist villa last year. The heart-breaking tragedy underscores the importance of safety measures and the responsibilities of property owners in the hospitality industry.

The victim’s, family had been on a vacation at the idyllic commercial property of “Aashiyana Villa” in Lonavala when the unimaginable tragedy unfolded.

The tragic incident, which occurred on 28th July, 2022, has only recently come to the forefront due to the persistent efforts of Advocate Taha Khan along with Advocate Usama Memon, who took up the case on behalf of the grieving ‘Vali’ family. They have been instrumental in bringing this grave issue to the attention of local authorities. Despite facing numerous challenges and obstacles, Khan’s relentless pursuit of justice has finally led the Lonavala City Police Station to take cognizance of the matter.

It is alleged that the electrocution occurred as a result of negligence on the part of the villa owner(s), who had failed to maintain the pool’s electrical systems adequately. Such violations and negligence resulted in a fatal outcome that could have been prevented.

The delay of one year in taking action has left many questioning the efficiency of the legal system and the priorities of law enforcement agencies. While speaking with Mumbai Parivartan, Khan has highlighted the need for a swifter response to such incidents to ensure that justice is served promptly.

In light of this tragic incident, there is a pressing need to raise awareness among tourists visiting Lonavala or any other tourist spots about their legal rights and the importance of their safety. Tourists should not only enjoy the natural beauty of the region but also be vigilant about the accommodations they choose and the safety measures in place.

This heart-breaking incident serves as a grim reminder that safety should be a top priority for both property owners and tourists alike. While the pursuit of justice for young Master Haroon Vali is now underway, it is essential that the lessons learned from this tragedy lead to stronger safety regulations in the tourism industry and greater awareness among visitors to Lonavala.

As the legal proceedings continue, Vali family hopes that their son’s tragic loss will not be in vain and that it will bring about positive change in Lonavala’s tourism sector, ensuring that no other family has to endure such a devastating loss in the future.
