Mezzanine Floor and Structural Changes Reported at 179, Dharam Kanta Lane, Mangaldas Market, Mumbai – 400002 .
Mumbai, May 28, 2025 – Authorities have been alerted to an alleged illegal and unauthorized construction underway at 179, Dharam Kanta Lane, Mangaldas Market, Mumbai – 400002. A formal complaint has been lodged, detailing significant modifications being made to the property without the necessary permissions from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The complaint specifically highlights the creation of a mezzanine floor, structural modifications, and additional alterations, all purportedly carried out in clear violation of municipal regulations. The complainant asserts that these activities are proceeding without any official approval from the competent BMC authority.
Adding a further layer of concern, the complaint also alleges neglect of duty by Assistant Engineer Navneet Jadhve, JE Timbaurne Designated Officer Amol Meshram of Building factory dept. claiming they have failed to take any action regarding the ongoing unauthorized construction. The complainant further states that the owner/contractor is leveraging “money and muscle power” in connection with the development.
The Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC) Act mandates strict adherence to building codes and requires prior permission for any structural changes or additions to properties within its jurisdiction. Unauthorized constructions can pose significant safety risks and often lead to issues concerning public infrastructure and urban planning.
